60 hz - 50 hz Frequency Converter

60 - 50 hz Frequency Converter

Combining decades of experience, expert staff, and cutting-edge technology, Georator designs, develops, and delivers high-performing, long-lasting 60 Hz to 50 Hz frequency converters for a wide variety of uses across the globe.

Georator’s 60 Hz – 50 Hz frequency converters are expertly engineered, skillfully crafted, and rigidly tested to provide the power, precision, reliability, and durability that customers demand.

What is 60 Hertz and 50 Hertz?

60 Hertz (Hz) is the frequency of wall current in the United States and many other countries across the world. 60 Hertz (Hz) means the rotor of a generator turns 60 cycles per second, and the voltage goes from positive to negative and back to positive - one complete cycle - 60 times every second. Frequency changes are designed to supply safe and stable alternating current (AC) in 50 Hz or 60 Hz frequency from a 50 Hz or 60 Hz input power source.

Where is 60 Hz and 50 Hz Used?

60 Hz is used by numerous countries spanning the globe including the United States, Canada, Costa Rica, Guam, Rwanda, and Syria. Countries using 50 Hz include Norway and Romania. Saudi Arabia, Japan, and Mexico are among the nations that use both 50 Hz and 60 Hz.

Georator’s high-quality 60 Hz to 50 Hz frequency converters are used to:

  • Test products used in foreign countries using 50 Hz
  • Operate foreign 50 Hz equipment via the USA power grid
  • Military and civilian aircraft simulators
  • Shore-to-ship services
  • Avionics workshops
  • Radar sites
  • Military missions deploying 60 Hz equipment in areas that are primarily 50 Hz countries

Providing The Right Product For You

Georator supplies 60 Hz to 50 Hz frequency converters that meet the exacting specifications for a wide range of industries, companies, and manufacturers across the globe. Manufacturers creating products to export to 50 Hz countries can test those components on a 60 Hz to 50 Hz frequency converter before shipment. Companies utilizing equipment designed and developed in a 50 Hz country need a 60 Hz to 50 Hz frequency converter to provide power to the equipment.

Frequency Converter Specifications

There are currently two specs that the Triathlon III solid-state units meet, EN 50091-1 and EN 50091-2. These have to do with Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Electromagnetic interference, which are minor specs. Some permanent magnet units have been successfully tested to the European CE requirements for all electromechanical products. Additionally, the belted MG sets are made in accordance with ANSI/NEMA MG-1, and when fitted with an enclosure, meet NEMA 3R requirements. All the active components such as motors and generators meet UL, or CSA, or CE. A broader definition of UL and CSA is the label NRTL (Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory), a list that comes out of OSHA, and includes forks like Intertek/ETL and TUV.
